Android Error

Battery Draining Faster Than Normal

What This Means (In Plain English)

Your phone battery is running out much quicker than usual. An app or setting is using more power than it should.

Low UrgencyThis is not urgent. Take your time with the fix.

Common Causes

  • A misbehaving app running in the background
  • Screen brightness set too high
  • Location Services running constantly
  • An old or degraded battery

How to Fix It — Step by Step

  1. 1

Go to Settings > Battery to see which apps are using the most power.

  2. 2

If an app you rarely use is high on the list, uninstall it or restrict its battery usage.

  3. 3

Turn down screen brightness: Settings > Display > Brightness.

  4. 4

Turn off Bluetooth and Wi-Fi when you are not using them.

  5. 5

Turn off Location Services for apps that do not need it.

  6. 6

Turn on Battery Saver mode: Settings > Battery > Battery Saver.

  7. 7

Restart your phone — sometimes a stuck process is draining the battery.

How to Prevent This in the Future

Keep screen brightness at a comfortable but not maximum level. Close apps you are not using. Turn on Battery Saver when your battery is low.

Still stuck? Don’t worry!
