Type ssa.gov into your browser's address bar and press Enter. Bookmark this page for easy access.

Create a my Social Security account

Click "Sign In / Create Account" at the top. You'll need your Social Security number, a valid email address, and a US mailing address.

Verify your identity

SSA uses ID.me or Login.gov to verify who you are. You'll need a photo ID (driver's license or passport) and may need to take a selfie with your phone.

Access your dashboard

Once logged in, you can see your benefit amount, payment schedule, tax documents (1099), and personal information.

You may need to verify your identity in person. Call 1-800-772-1213 or visit your local SSA office.

Forgot passwordβ–Ύ

Click "Forgot Password" on the sign-in page. You'll get a reset link at your email address.

Identity verification failedβ–Ύ

Try using Login.gov instead of ID.me, or vice versa. Make sure your photo ID matches your current name.

Website is slow or not loadingβ–Ύ

SSA.gov is busiest Monday mornings. Try again Tuesday-Friday or after 4 PM.
