How to Set Up Teladoc

1

Check your insurance

Many Medicare Advantage plans, employer plans, and private insurance include Teladoc. Check your insurance card or call your plan.

2

Download the Teladoc app

Search "Teladoc" in the App Store or Google Play. You can also use teladoc.com on a computer.

3

Create an account

Enter your name, date of birth, address, phone number, and insurance information.

4

Add your medical history

List your medications, allergies, and health conditions. This helps the doctor prepare.

5

Request a visit

Choose "See a doctor now" for immediate availability, or schedule for a specific time. You can choose video or phone-only.

  • 💡You can choose phone-only if video is too complicated

  • 💡Teladoc doctors can't prescribe controlled substances (like pain medications)

Troubleshooting

Long wait time

Wait times vary by time of day. Early mornings and late evenings are usually faster. You can also schedule a specific time.

Insurance not recognized

Try entering your Member ID exactly as shown on your card. Call your insurance to confirm Teladoc coverage.

Need a prescription refill

Teladoc doctors can prescribe most medications but cannot refill controlled substances. For refills, contact your regular doctor.

Prefer phone only

When requesting a visit, choose "Phone" instead of "Video." The doctor will call you at the number on file.
