Personal Hotspot — No Devices Connected

What This Means (In Plain English)

You turned on your iPhone's hotspot to share internet with another device, but nothing is connecting to it.

Low UrgencyThis is not urgent. Take your time with the fix.

Common Causes

  • The other device is not looking for the right network name
  • Wrong hotspot password entered
  • Mobile carrier does not allow hotspot on your plan
  • Too many devices already connected

How to Fix It — Step by Step

  1. 1

Go to Settings > Personal Hotspot and make sure it is turned on.

  2. 2

Note the Wi-Fi password shown on the screen.

  3. 3

On the other device, look for your iPhone name in the Wi-Fi list and connect using that password.

  4. 4

If it does not appear, turn Personal Hotspot off and back on.

  5. 5

Try connecting via USB cable or Bluetooth instead of Wi-Fi.

  6. 6

Restart both your iPhone and the device you want to connect.

How to Prevent This in the Future

Keep a simple but memorable hotspot password. Make sure your mobile plan includes hotspot/tethering.
