1Download Zoom

  1. 1

Open Safari or Chrome on your Mac.

  2. 2

2Set Up Your Account

Grant permissions

Your Mac will ask for permission to use the camera and microphone. Click "Allow" for both — this is essential for video calls.

Click "Sign In" and enter your credentials, or use "Sign In with Apple" or "Sign In with Google."

Test your setup

Click your profile icon at the top right, then "Settings." Check Audio and Video settings to make sure your webcam and microphone are working.

3How to Use Zoom

Join a meeting

Click "Join" on the home screen. Enter the Meeting ID and your name, then click "Join." Enter the passcode if needed.

Start a new meeting

Click "New Meeting" to begin an instant video call. Share the invitation via the "Participants" > "Invite" button.

Mute and unmute

Click the microphone icon at the bottom left, or hold the spacebar to temporarily unmute.

Share your screen

Click "Share Screen," pick the window or desktop to share, and click "Share." Press "Stop Share" when finished.

Record a meeting

Click "Record" at the bottom to save the meeting to your Mac. The recording will be saved when the meeting ends.

Tips for Seniors

  • Use Command+"+" to zoom in on the Zoom window for larger text and controls.

  • Connect AirPods or headphones for clearer audio and to reduce echo.

  • The Touch Bar on older MacBooks shows Zoom controls during meetings — use it for quick mute/unmute.

  • Close unnecessary browser tabs and apps before a meeting to keep your Mac running smoothly.
