1Download Zoom

  1. 1

    Open the Google Play Store.

  2. 2

Search for "Zoom" in the search bar.

    Tap "Open" to launch Zoom.

2Set Up Your Account

Tap the blue Zoom icon in your app drawer or on your home screen.

Sign up or sign in

Tap "Sign Up" with your email to create a free account, or use "Sign In with Google" for the quickest setup.

Grant permissions

Allow access to camera, microphone, and notifications when prompted. These are essential for video calls.

Set your profile

Add your name so meeting participants know who you are.

3How to Use Zoom

Join a meeting

Tap "Join" on the main screen. Enter the Meeting ID and your display name. Tap "Join Meeting" and enter the passcode if asked.

Start a new meeting

Tap "New Meeting" to start your own video call. Tap "Start a Meeting" and share the meeting link with others by tapping "Participants" then "Invite."

Mute and unmute

Tap the screen to show controls, then tap the microphone icon at the bottom left to mute or unmute.

Switch camera

Tap the rotate camera icon at the top to switch between front and back cameras.

Leave a meeting

Tap "Leave" in the top right corner and confirm.

Tips for Seniors

  • Connect to Wi-Fi before joining a meeting for the best video and audio quality.

  • Use headphones or earbuds to hear others more clearly and reduce echo.

  • If your phone screen goes dark during a call, just tap it to wake it up — the meeting continues in the background.

  • Ask the meeting host to send you the link via text message — you can join by simply tapping the link instead of typing the Meeting ID.

Common Issues & Solutions

Zoom is not using my camera
Go to Android Settings > Apps > Zoom > Permissions and make sure Camera is set to "Allow." During the meeting, tap the video icon at the bottom to turn it on.
Audio is cutting in and out
Switch to Wi-Fi if you are using cellular data. Close other apps that might be using bandwidth. If the problem continues, try leaving and rejoining the meeting.
I received a link but Zoom does not open
Make sure Zoom is installed. If the link opens in a browser instead, copy the Meeting ID from the link and enter it manually in the Zoom app.
